"Germany should hand over warplanes to Ukraine so that the country can ensure its security in the long term."
Erhard Bühler, the retired general, former commander of the international security forces in Kosovo operating under the auspices of NATO, expressed this opinion in an interview with the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" newspaper.
The general believes that the German government is directly responsible for the poor equipment of the Ukrainian military. He said that the country made its decision on the supply of weapons too late, so Ukraine still lacks modern equipment.
Bühler also noted that German officials should respond to the requests of the Ukrainian side as soon as possible and deliver to Kiev not only weapons for air defense combat, but also combat aircraft such as American-made F-16 fighters, which are abundant in the world.
